In the course of sanctions against the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, the football world cup winner FC Chelsea apparently loses its main sponsor.
The mobile phone company Three has asked the association of the German coach Thomas Tuchel according to the announcement from Thursday to take the advertising to further from the jersey breast and from the stadium environment.
“In the light of recent sanctions, we demand from FC Chelsea that our sponsoring of the club (…) will be suspended,” it said. This will displace many Chelsea fans, but is “in the given circumstances the right one”.
According to media reports, Three has changed the advertising 48 million euros per season.
The British government had set the club owner Abramovich to its sanction list and Chelsea placed with massive problems. The London is now allowed to play only thanks to a special license in the English Premier League. In addition, the sale of the association designed by Abramovich is impossible for the time being.
