The jersey the Argentine football star Diego Maradona carried at the World Championships in 1986 in Mexico in the quarterfinals against England is auctioned in London.

According to the Auction House Sotheby’s, it could bring up to six million British pounds (converted approx. 7.2 million euros). The auction on the Internet should start on April 20th. Bids can be delivered until May 4th.

Maradona had scored both goals in the legendary game, the Argentina with 2: 1, including his infamous goal with his fist. The gate was “a bit with the head of Maradona and a bit with the hand of God”, he said then.

In the game, he was still a regular hit after being released several English. The hit is considered the “World Cup of the Century”. Argentina was later world champion.

Maradona, who died in November 2020 at 60 years as a result of a heart attack, had exchanged his jersey with the English midfielder Steve Hodge after the game against England. Hodge had provided the blue shirt with the number 10 long the National Football Museum in Manchester as a loan. Now he decided to sell it.
