The promotion space has burst: Darmstadt 98 has to bury all hopes for a Bundesliga return after a heartbeat final.

The team of coach Torsten Lieberknecht prevailed 3-0 (3-0) against SC Paderborn on the last second division match day, but remained unhappy for the victories of the competition.

Tim Skarke (2nd) and Luca Pfeiffer (25th/37th) rewarded the lilies with their goals for an incredibly passionate appearance. Due to the clear leadership, the eyes went early to Rostock – the Hamburger SV, but late, caused disillusionment among the Darmstadt. The Paderborn Marcin Cuni (79th) received the red card because of rough foul.

Darmstadt played an even better starting point last week at Fortuna Düsseldorf (1: 2). The support in the stands was all the greater: after a march to the stadium at the Böllenfall goal, the fans swore their team with an impressive choreo.

From second to fourth, everything was possible before the kick -off. Accordingly, Darmstadt started furiously: Skarke set the first exclamation mark in the promotion battle early on. Lieberknecht did not want to find out constantly about the other results, but the HSV deficit caused great jubilation in the ranks.

In front of Hertha coach Felix Magath, the lilies continued undeterred. Phillip Tietz (19th) initially missed the second goal, but a little later Pfeiffer expanded the lead with a double pack. To do this, the SVD was able to rely on goalkeeper Marcel shoes.

Darmstadt continued to play forward after the break before 13,710 fans. While the nervousness in the stands rose through the Hamburg equalizer in Rostock, Lieberknecht’s eleven left nothing to burn with the lead. Pfeiffer’s third hit (69th) was also withdrawn due to an offside position according to video evidence.
